The Ligue 1 2015/16 is the 78th season in the highest French league football of gentlemen.
As defending champion Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) started in the season, the reigning Cup holders are also the Parisians. The SCO Angers, ES Troyes AC and Gazelec Ajaccio secured promotion to the top flight and replaced the three relegated FC Évian Thonon Gaillard, RC Lens and FC Metz.
The biggest difference to recent seasons will be possibly the decreased number of relegated to Ligue. 2 Instead of three to descend from this season only two teams. However, this change is not yet decided final.
